Dishwasher Cleaning

When thinking about kitchen cleaning, most people will automatically think about their fridge, oven and stove. You probably wouldn’t think about checking what condition your dishwasher is until something bad will happen. For example, bad odor coming out of it, a warning light turning on and more.

Having a dirty dishwasher is more common situation than you think. Most people don’t clean their dishwasher on a regular basis, if even at all.

So, what cause a dishwasher to get dirty and have a bad odor? The main and maybe the only reason is a food build up in the filters. Over time, small particles of unwashed food get stuck in the filter of the crevices of the machine. As a result, the food that got stuck create an unpleasant scent, which can transmit to the dishes during the washing cycle.

First, start by unscrewing and removing the bottom filter, in order to clean it. Also, take out the filter tray as well. Furthermore, in order to get the best cleaning result, soak both them in a warm and soapy water for about 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse them in hot water and let them dry off. Make sure you’re not using a strong scrub bush. Both of the devices are quite delicate and can be damaged.

Then, activate the dishwasher using the deep cleaning option and let the vinegar do its trick! It’ll break the food build up and deodorized the inside of the dishwasher.

Also – make sure your dishwasher is EMPTY while doing the cleaning.

How to prevent a dirty dishwasher in the future

There are some ways to making sure you’ll keep your dishwasher clean, but the in the end it’s all about taking care of it on a regular basis. Get the dishwasher cleaning take part of your cleaning routine and you’ll see the results for yourself!

Here’s our guide on how to avoid smelly odor coming from the dishwasher:

Tips

Our Tips - Start with your dirty dished!

The first thing you should do is wash your dishes. Whether it’s just one plate or a big pile of dirty dishes, this is the place to start. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter if you have a dishwasher or wash them by the hand, you should start from that.

You can’t really start cleaning your kitchen with a sink full with dirty dishes. Our tip for a quick way to wash the dishes is to soak them for as long as possible using warm water and dish soap. The warm water and the soap will help get rid of the stubborn stains.

Tide the area up

Once the dishes are clean, start tidying up the kitchen. Our tip is to focus at one area at a time, and to return every object to its original place. For example, return all clean plates to their place, ingredients you used while you cooked – wipe them up with a kitchen towel and return them to it’s place.

You’ll see that once you cleared all the counters, shelves and tables, cleaning up the kitchen will get easier!

Stovetop and Counters Wipe Down – Tips for the cleanest results

It doesn’t matter what kind of stovetop you have, the easiest way to clean it is to use heat. Our tip for a best and quickest clean of the stove is to use a warm towel while cleaning it. Before wiping it, apply a specific cleaning product for your stove and lay a towel soaked in hot water for 10 minutes. Make sure to not be so close while applying the cleaning product, it’s not healthy to breathe it in. Once time’s up, remove the towel and wipe the stove. You’ll find hoe easier it is to clean the stove now!

One of our Tips is – while you wait for the 10 minutes to end, you can clean your counters! To make it easier, you should start by moving objects that are generally placed on the counters. (Such as, fruit baskets, flower vase etc.). Furthermore, because you already tided up the kitchen, it’ll take you less time to wipe it!

Tips

Kitchen Sink

After washing all the dishes, counters and the stovetop, you sink is as dirty as possible. You can choose to deep clean your sink or if you are in a hurry, you can choose to follow quick cleaning tip.

First, make sure there’s nothing left in the sink. Than start your cleaning process by wetting the interiors of the sink with hot water to help remove any grime and dirt. The next step is applying a generous amount of cleaning product to a scrub brush and start scrubbing the sink! Make sure you clean every part of it thoroughly. Than rinse and wipe the sink, wash the brush and let it dry.

Sweep and Mop the floor

The last step is sweeping and mopping the floor. You can also vacuum instead of sweeping, but be advices that is usually takes longer than sweeping. Also, a broom is easier to move around the area and reach to difficult places. Either way, you should make sure you collect all dust and dirt before start mopping.

The final step of this cleaning guide is mopping. You’ll be surprised how quickly and easy it can be! There’s a couple of ways to mop the floor. Although it’s not the most sophisticated way, we recommend using a pre made bucket mixed with the best cleaning product and warm water. You should start from the corner farthest from the exit and make your way to it. The first step is mopping with a soaked mop and once you finish mopping in the kitchen, repeat the action with a damp mop.
